Trendy Swivel Tub Chairs

Fashion is not just restricted to the ramp. There have been a lot of changes in furniture trends as well. The trend that is catching on among chairs these days is the swivel tub chair. For those who haven't heard about it, a swivel chair is a barrel shaped cushioned chair with high armrests that curve outwards, making it look somewhat like a small tub. A swivel chair is quite understandably a tub chair with a seat that swivels.

Chairs are designed to provide the greatest comfort to those who wish to relax after a long day. The high back and cushioned arm rests provide a good support for the body, and rids one of fatigue caused by ill shaped chairs at work. You can just plunk yourself in a swivel tub chair and enjoy rotating it, with your head back, while you de-stress with your family.

Swivel tub chairs come in a variety of material options including leather, faux leather, suede, velvet and thick sofa fabric. Leather chairs are taut and are usually for a more professional purpose, like for your office or study. They look very rich and rugged, available in limited color options of brown, white, black and blue. Faux leather rotating chairs and those in suede are available in many more color options and are easy on the pocket as well.

If you like color, you can go in for velvet swivel chairs. These chairs are soft and girly and come in vibrant hues like fuchsia, turquoise, red, off white and many more. You can put these chairs in the living room, or even your teenager daughter's bedroom. She would love to swivel in them while listening to her favorite music or chatting up with her buddies. If you want to match your tub chair with your existing furniture, fabricated options are available in plenty. Polka dots, stripes, checks, or just plain cloth, there are a world of options in fabrics that promise to match every décor and every mood!

Rotating tub chairs vary in price depending upon what material you choose. Leather tub chairs would obviously cost more, while the most budgeted option would be upholstered chairs. Choose carefully, keeping in mind the area you want them for. If its relaxation you're looking for, velvet and suede are much better options.

Swivel tub chairs are available in most furniture stores, but if you want more variety, log on to http://www.click4interiors.co.uk and you will be amazed at their collection.

They also offer latest furniture designs on low prices, that are sure to suit any budget. So don't miss an opportunity to revamp your home, just invest in a tub chair and revel in the compliments they'll get for you.

Couch Slip Covers for Every Home

Back in the day, couch slip covers used to be unfit for the couches of households. It looks like a fabric just hanging down the couches. This is because back in the day, sofa slip covers were simply cloths that are not even fitted for the couches.

It has crumples, wrinkles, folds, drapes and all those ugly unnecessary things that you do not want to see in your couch. Sure, you would want your couch to be clean but you want it to look presentable too. Plus, you also want your couch to be clean. But how on earth will you be able to do that if your couch slip covers do not fit well?

The good thing though is that nowadays, these covers are perfectly fitted to your couches. The material that is used for the slip covers are now stretchable. So it can fit whatever size or style your couch has. If you are thinking about the armrests and the other parts of your couch, you do not have to worry. Nowadays, there are sectional slipcovers that are provided to be able to cover these parts of your couch.

Another good thing about these seat covers is that they are approximately only $200. This price beats the price of a whole sofa set. Plus, since these slip covers vary in styles, colors and designs, you can buy as many as you can. In this way, your sofa will look like a new one each time you change the covers. It does not necessarily matter if your real sofa is a little busted already inside because the outsides will seem perfectly fine because of the covers.

If the $200 budget does not even fit your budget, there are actually other ways to get cheap slipcovers. One, you can wait for sale season in your favorite stores. Usually, the stores carry out seasonal sales which mean that they get rid of the old designs and styles of slip covers for a lesser price.

You can ask the sales agent when this time will come. Second, you can also check out garage sales in your neighborhood. Your neighbors might be moving out or refurnishing their homes so they might be selling old slip covers. You do not have to worry about it being dirty and old because as long as you can laundry it and it does not have stains, it can still be good as new. Third, you can try online auction sites. They might be auctioning of some new or second hand covers.

Another option would be to buy your fabrics from any fabric store and have your own custom slipcovers. If you know how to sew, you can do it on your own. However, if you do not know how to sew, you can always look for tailors who can make you your own covers. Tailors will even help you out in personalizing the look of your slipcovers according to your preferred design and color.

Why Bed Rest Pillows Can Make Your Bed Reading Even Better

Have you heard of a pillow with armrests? Sounds kind of weird, right? But weird as it may seem, bed rest pillows have armrests. If you find yourself uncomfortable when you are resting your back on a pillow while you relax or read, bed rest pillows may be best for you. They are pillows with arms that reach forward that allow you to have the comfort of an armchair.

Bed rest pillows, sometimes called husband pillows, are large and somewhat stiff pillows. They are high back pillows with arms that are designed to help you when you are sitting on your bed reading or watching the television. Instead of leaning on a hard surface or lumpy pillows, these pillows give you hard and good support. Doesn't it bother you when you read in bed and there is nowhere to put your arms? I mean, I always put them on my laps, which forces my head to bend down to read the book. Just 15 minutes of reading will leave me with a sore neck. Having the armrest of these pillows allows me to read upright and comfortably.

A bed rest pillow also offers you a firm and steady support for your spine. The back support it gives and the armrests can place you in the most comfortable position you can be while reading and watching the television. You need to always support your back and spine to prevent your back muscles from being strained which will cause back pains. These pillows are perfect for those who are experiencing acute and chronic back pain. It relieves you from the back pain even if you are sitting up for hours to read.

These pillows may not fit inside your pocket but they are lightweight and can be carried around. Put it in your driver seat and you can drive for hours without a grunt. If you are worried about cleaning it, a bed rest pillow usually comes with a removable cover. You can just take it off, throw it in the washing machine and let the machine do all the grunt work.

Indeed, a bed rest pillow can be a good way to combat back pain and stress. I for one love to read in bed but just couldn't find the perfect position to be in without having a sore back or neck afterwards. I tried a bed rest pillow and even though it has its flaws, it is still better than nothing. If you want comfort and get some relief from back pain, try a bed rest pillow today.

USD 2480 www.mangore.com/bellucci-guitars-may-20-2011-all-maple-concert-guitar.html Maple Back and Sides, Special Hauser braced Maple top, 640mm, 16" radiused Ebony fingerboard, Mother of pearl details on the Ebony bridge, violin tie and Maple headplate. Ebony bindings and luxury marquetry on all sides. 2 pearl sound holes, Zebrawood buttons on the gold plated tuners, 21 frets, triple neck wood decoration/truss rod, Exclusive hand crafted leather embossed leather case included. Sensational Cutaway! "Black & White guitar" It is very hard to put into words the myriad of feelings that are awakened by this amazing all Maple & Ebony guitar. "Black & White guitar " is her rightful name. I used Maple for the Back and sides, top, fingerboard and the marquetry. Ebony for the armrest, bridge, tie, bindings and, again, the marquetry. I then decided to try a new cutaway in a U shape with a pointy finish and a double sound hole system. The double sound hole allows for a better separation of voices. The sound is never diminished because the right hand never covers the main exit point of the sound. I often refer to Maple as "The Northern Hemisphere Rosewood". The reason is that Maple has an amazing tap tone and produces a sound that competes neck to neck with Brazilian rosewood and the other Tropical species only it does not even need a fraction of the pampering. The Brazilian Choro I play on her is lively and vibrant. The trebles and mid ranges sing marvelously. The bass is strong and ...

Tips on Buying a Recliner Sofa

A recliner sofa is a relaxing piece of furniture that allows you to read, watch a movie or to stretch simply. It is mainly a sitting fitment to sit contentedly and to rest your tired body. It can be placed in the living room, bedroom or in the patio.

Recliner sofas are available in various designs and styles. Nevertheless, its main features are the headrest, backrest, cushioned armrest and footrest. Modern makers of contemporary furniture have added more features to this furniture though.

Following are helpful tips on buying your recliner sofa.

  • What is your purpose for buying one? Your purpose will determine the kind of recliner that you need.

  • Where do you plan to place it? Is your space just enough or bigger? With a bigger space, you can have one that has additional accessories and features. The area and the space will give you a clear idea of your requirements.

  • Visit furniture sites or your local furniture store. Check the prices and features of competing brands. By this comparison, you will be able to evaluate and choose the recliner sofa that fits your prerequisites and budget.

  • Identify the features that you want. Some recliners feature comfy pillowed-armrests and leg rest with a customized table. Some features vibrators that can give you a body massage as well as push-backs and heating systems. These are called therapeutic recliner sofas. You can also opt to have one that is cushioned and with padded backrest.

  • Examine the structure of the recliner. It must be able to put up substantial sizes and weights. A good recliner is made from pine, oak, steel or plastic. Always select the sturdy ones to last you longer.

  • Check on the fabric. The choice of fabric and structure will tell you if it is durable or not. Go for tightly woven fabrics, as they are stronger. They are also ideal if you have children or pets around your home. You also need to check if the fabric used is easy to clean.

  • It should likewise match the theme of the room. Hence, it follows that a contemporary-themed room needs a similar style and so on.

  • You also need to check on the warranty and replacements of parts and covers.

Once you have found the recliner sofa that fits your requirements, try it prior to purchase. Sit, curl or lie down and make it last for a few minutes to test its convenience and comfort ability.

By following the above tips, you can be assured to have the appropriate recliner sofa for your home.

Unique Characteristics of the Modern Adirondack Chair

The modern Adirondack chair has developed from its original design that appeared in 1903. According to the plans for this design, the chair could be built from eleven pieces of wood. Today, Adirondack chairs are made from an assortment of materials. They appear in a variety of colors. We don't necessarily see them manufactured from eleven pieces of wood. But the basic characteristics of the modern version are the same as the original. Because of these unique characteristics, we see the Adirondack chair as a very distinct and identifiable design. These characteristics include slat construction, wide and flat armrests, and angled backrests and seats.

What we now call the Adirondack chair was originally labeled the Westport plank chair. We have dubbed this design Adirondack after the mountain range where it originated, but the man who patented the design and first began to sell the chairs lived in a town called Westport, which lies in the Adirondack Mountains. As the original name suggests, the first chairs were constructed of several planks of wood. While the material may have changed, the plank design has not. The modern Adirondack chair still consists of individual slats fastened to other frame pieces to form the seat and back of the chair.

Another common characteristic we can observe among modern Adirondack chairs is the wide, flat armrests. Often, they are wide enough that you can rest your drink or food on the end. Comfort was the primary concern for the original Adirondack chair, but the design can provide a useful solution for small outdoor spaces. If everyone has an Adirondack chair, you may be able to forgo a dining table. Regardless of your reasons for buying Adirondack chairs, this unique characteristic sets them apart from other styles of outdoor furniture.

Variations on the design have developed, and every Adirondack chair doesn't look the same. Even so, many employ angled backrests or seats to provide you with a more comfortable experience. For regular chairs, the whole seat sits at an angle to the ground, with the back side of the seat closest to the ground, and the front portion of the seat higher in the air. Other pieces of furniture, such as Adirondack love seats and rockers, use the same angled positioning. As a result, this feature-like the others-has come to represent not only chairs but other pieces of furniture, as well.

Aside from some obvious changes which have affected all types of furniture manufacturing, the design has hardly changed. Experiments over the last 100 years have resulted in some minor variations of the original design. But the core design remains much the same as when the chair first appeared on the American scene. Its distinguishing characteristics-slats, wide armrests, and angled seats and backrests-make this style of furniture easy to identify at first glance, even for those who know little about furniture styles. Perhaps this is why the design has thrived for so many years: nothing else looks quite like it.

Fixing Up an Old Outdoor Rocking Chair

When something breaks, most people's reaction is simply to toss it away and buy something new, but not you. You're the kind of handyman (or woman) who knows how to get the most mileage out of a piece of furniture. Something like an outdoor rocking chair is a sturdy piece of furniture built to last, but the ravages of the outdoors can take a toll nonetheless. To keep yours in good shape throughout the years, you might need to employ some repair techniques in addition to the regular upkeep and maintenance.

What do you do about discoloration?

One problem that's common with wood furniture is discoloration, either by way of stains, mold, etc. To combat this, you can either hide stains on your outdoor rocking chair or try and get rid of them. To hide the stain, clean the wood off using soap and water and then apply a coat of an opaque or stain-hiding primer. Once that's dry, you can choose whatever color you want to paint your chair with, so long as it's approved for use on wooden outdoor furniture.
On the other hand, if you just want the stain gone while retaining the natural color of the wood, you will need to do the more arduous task of stain removal.

To be the most gentle on the wood, go from mildest to strongest cleaners when trying out what works. For starters, and also on milder stains, try soap and warm water or a wood cleaner. Murphy's and wood deck cleaners both work. If that doesn't work, use a stronger cleaner, but avoid power washers, as they can damage the surface and grain of wood. For really tough spots, a solvent like bleach or chlorine and water usually does the trick. When using these caustic substances, always wear rubber gloves and goggles and work in small, concentrated areas to only attack the areas that are stained. Then, once you're finished be sure to completely rinse off any traces of the solvent; if it sets for too long it can actually start to eat away at wood.

How do you repair a damaged finish?

Once your outdoor rocking chair is cleaned, you might also consider applying a finish to protect and beautify wood. The first step is removing any remaining traces of residual finishes. You can use a finish stripper, sandpaper or even a putty knife to do so, but be careful not to nick or damage the surface of the wood. Once the surface is smooth and free of varnish, clean off all surfaces to ensure that the finish sticks better. Then, when wood is dry apply one to two coats of finish. Different kinds of finish include oil-based varnish and paints.

How do you fix broken or uneven pieces of wood?

One problem wooden furniture has it that once it starts to break down as a result of exposure to elements, the wood can crack, splinter, warp and rot, causing an outdoor rocking chair to shift or even break apart. For small cracks, you can either try to sand them out so that they not spread, or else try gluing small pieces of wood directly into the cracks.

However, for more serious cracks or deteriorated wood, you will need to replace the entire damaged section. This is a bigger job best left to professionals if you're unsure, but if you do decide to do it, make sure the wood you choose is even and matches. As a rule of thumb, the less wood you have to replace the better, because in essence you're changing how the chair looks and also how the contour of the chair has been designed to fit.

What do you do about spindles?

Spindles are commonly found on a wooden outdoor rocking chair or just chairs in general. These are the rod-shaped pieces of wood that make up the backrest and sometimes hold up the armrests as well. Because they are thinner than the rest of the seat, they can break more easily. To remove broken spindles, use a hammer and punch, but in the armrests substitute a non-slip pad in order to twist out the spindles. Trying to find a replacement spindle that matches the rest might be tricky if not impossible, so you will probably have to replace the lot of them. When replacing the spindles, clamp them into the chair until the glue has a chance to fully dry.

High-Tech Accessories For Your Power Wheelchair

If you use an electric wheelchair to get around, you may want to consider a few high-tech upgrades to make your life easier. This article will cover how to install an environmental voice control system, using an accessible phone system with voice control, and how to mount a laptop computer to your power chair for use anywhere.

An environmental voice control system works like a universal remote, except they accept voice commands. This functionality is very convenient for anybody in a wheelchair, and especially important if you happen to be quadriplegic. Some of these devices are very expensive and some are relatively affordable. The VoiceIR Infrared Environmental Voice Control System is easy to use, highly versatile, and only $299. It works with any device that uses an infrared remote, such as your television, your DVD player, your stereo, etc. The device itself is pretty small - only slightly larger than a mouse of a computer. The trick is to mount this device onto your wheelchair where it can receive and carry out your voice commands. I would recommend having a pivoting shelf attached to one of your armrests. Make sure you can raise the shelf up so that you can get out of the wheelchair, but otherwise the device is essentially resting on a shelf above your lap.

Some environmental control systems come with optional hardware that allows the device to control your phone as well, but you could probably save money by getting an ordinary cell phone that has modern accessibility features. For a simple, elegant solution that allows you to use your phone as a voice-recognition tool that also gives you better computer access, try the Windows Mobile Advanced Voice Control Media Player Package. This allows you to use your phone entirely with voice commands, but it also allows your phone to act as an input device on your computer. Using a phone with the advanced media player installed, you can use your voice to listen to music, watch movies, or browse the internet on your laptop computer, which brings us to our final recommended upgrade.

Your laptop computer can be mounted to your wheelchair for greater accessibility and convenience. Again, the best way to accomplish this is to mount a pivoting shelf onto your wheelchair. You may also want to consider the battery life of the laptop and if it can be charged by the wheelchair's battery. Even if you have very limited mobility in your hands, a computer on your power wheelchair will go a long way toward keeping you productive or keeping you entertained. Using one of the options outlined above to operate the computer using your voice alone, you will be able to use the computer effortlessly. In fact, you may not even need any additional hardware to make your computer completely voice-operated. Investigate the voice command software options currently available, such as Dragonsoft's Naturally Speaking. You may need some assistance with the initial setup, but having your voice-commanded computer with you most of the time will make it worthwhile.

Driving And Back Pain - Is Your Car Seat Causing Lower Back Pain?

A lot of us experience lower back pain whilst driving. A number of researches have investigated the relationship between driving and Back Pain, which uncovered uncovered some interesting results. One finding is a comparison of drivers in the USA and in Sweden found that 50% of people questioned in both countries reported low back pain.

So what is the connection of driving and back pain?

So far research has found three factors for low back pain whilst driving. The first one is the vibration from the engine (something that you can not change), the sitting position is the second factor and the third one is the length of time that we drive.

Scientists at laboratories have researched the effects of vibration of our body whilst driving. The Lumbar Spine(lower back) naturally resonates at a frequency of 4-5 Hertz and from research they found that this natural frequency can be distorted. This distortion can result into higher spinal loadings (compression) in the lower back, therefore causing an increased chance of low back pain. As mentioned before you can not change the vibration of the engine, but what you can do to reduce the effects of this on your lower back is to drive shorter periods at a time.

It is a lot easier to get comfortable in your seat when the car is stationary, a bit like sitting in a normal chair. But once you start driving the body will be subject to various forces like accelerations and decelerations, lateral movements from side to side and whole body vibrations. When we sit on a chair our feet, when on the floor, are used to support and stabilise the lower body. Whilst driving our abdominal muscles can not provide enough stability to our upper body and arms when turning the wheel. This will result in a significant increase of torsional stresses in the lower back, which in return will significantly increase the risk of low back pain.

To start with we should address one more important issue first - we all are guilty when it comes to adjusting our car seats correctly! In 2004 one of the largest car insurance companies (I won't mention a name, after all you may think I am paid to write about this), released the findings of a research into how we sit in our car. (about 2.000 people were involved in this).

The research resulted in the following -

  • The headrest was found to be in an incorrect angle when driving of 61% of people involved in the study. This will increase the chance of ruptures of the spinal ligaments or worse when involved in an accident.

  • 50% showed a slouched or hunched position over the steering wheel.

  • About a third of the drivers had back pain whilst driving.

  • 25% tilted their heads or shifted in their seats each time they had to look into the 'rear view mirror'.

  • Wearing unsuitable footwear or clothing happened to 34% of the drivers.

Please find below a list of 10 ways that can help to improve your seating position, make your driving experience more comfortable.

The Seat

Make sure that your bottom sits all the way in the back of the seat - where the base and the back of the seat meet. This will help to make you sit more upright and maintain the natural curvature of the spine, minimizing the stress on the spinal ligaments. If your seat has a lumbar roll built in have this all the way out - most cars with lumbar support that i tried do not allow enough support fom this lumbar roll, therefore it would be best to have it all the way out.

The Base length and Height of the Seat

The base of the seat should never touch the back of your knees and the front of the base should be slightly higher then the back, helping to provide more support and allowing you press the pedals without changing your spinal posture.

The Backrest

First relax back into your seat, place the seat at about a 10-15 degrees incline from the vertical position. If this feels unnatural to you then it probably means that the backrest is not upright enough for you. This can result into neck strain and / or coccyx (sitting bone) pain. Move the backrest more upright or if that doesn't help you can place a small towel (folded in three) against the midspine, between the shoulder blades.

The Headrest

Have you ever noticed when watching an American movie that the headrests are often missing from the seats - it makes me crinch each time i see this (ooch). So much for giving a good example to our children. The position of your headrest will not only help to minimise the injuries of an accident but also to help to allow a better posture. The bony bit at the back of your head (known as the 'inion') is a good guiding point, the headrest should be level with this. There should be about 2.3 cm's (1 inch for the non -metrics) between the back of your head and the headrest, when you are in the sitting position as described earlier. This to absorb shock as much as possible. This allows for the ligaments and the muscles of your neck to control the posture of your head better and giving better support in case of an accident.

Seat - Pedal distance

Make sure you have the distance between seat and the pedals so that when operating the pedals this does not cause you to over strech your legs or twist your body in any way. Thus your legs should not be straight when pushing the throttle or clutch all the way down. Obviously your knees should not be bend to the point you cannot easily move from one pedal to another. It is normally adviced to have your knees bend about 45 degrees.

The Arm position

Your arms should be as relaxed as possible, elbows bend around 20-30 degrees. If your steering wheel is adjustable have it in the mid to lower position (make sure the wheel does not partially obstruct the instrument panel), this will help to reduce the stress on your shoulders. Your hands should be positioned at '10 past10' and not as is suggested left hand at 9 o'clock and right hand at 3 o'clock.

The armrests

If your seat has armrests then it is adviced to use these. As a guidance you should position the armrests so that they gently support the elbows, any more will cause the shoulders to rise and increase the change of straining your neck.

The Mirrors

These should only be adjusted once you have positioned your seat as described above. If not sure then please revisit the information again how to adjust your seat. The mirrors should be adjusted to allow you to freely look into them without the need of having to move your head much. you either have adjusted the mirrors incorrectly or you are to close to the steering wheel.

Adjusting Seat at intervals

This sound great in theory but for most of us this may be akward whilst driving. For those who have electric seats it is easier (although it always advicable to stop first), just reach for the buttons to adjust the seat without the need to take our attention of the road. It is said that you should be doing this every 30 mins. to reduce the incidents of back pain. This allows to change the pressure that is placed on the spine is varied regularly. Once arrived at your destination it would be good to strech! (don't worry if it looks funny, soon everybody in the carpark will join in - you can be proud having started a new 'healthy' trend)

Have breaks

We all have seen the 'take a break' sign along the roads, helping you to avoid falling asleep behind the wheel. Taking a break helps your back as well, so when you need to take a rest you can have a strech at the same time to help your back. An hour maximum is the current thinking, although these tips should be taken as a general rule. This is a good time to adjust your seating position!

Can You Find Free Arrest Records Online?

You can't tell a book by its cover but you can read it to find out. It's the same with people. We need to go past the covers in order to learn the truth about them too. For a majority of us, we cross path with all sorts of different people all the time in our daily life and with the kind of crime rate that is seen in the country these days, we can't afford not to take precautions. Fortunately for us, we can do that quite easily.

Many things about us are put into records. The United States have the most comprehensive system of Public Records in place. They are precious as gold if you know how to put them to good use and are accessible free of charge by anyone too as long as procedures are followed. There are various categories of free public records and Free Arrest Records in particular is very handy in finding out the truth about people.

There are quite a handful of record categories related to criminal violations and Free Arrest Records is unique in that 100% of the arrests are documented and stick whether or not they lead to eventual incarceration. This applies for Military personnel as well. In this way, even acquittals, dropped charges, insufficient evidence and reasonable doubt cases and other prosecutions which fail to secure conviction are still produced.

Free Arrest Records come under state jurisdiction. They are therefore governed by the respective state laws. Hence, variations exist from state to state in regard to their access and the treatment and permissible use of the information derived from them. Generally, their accessibility is quite liberal with exception when it's deemed to be against public interests such as when it concerns security, social stability or juveniles.

Being public records, Free Arrest Records are obtainable from government agencies responsible for the function including police departments and even the FBI. They can be requested by mail, telephone, fax, or in person. Online option over the internet is also increasingly available nowadays and is proving to be a very popular mode of retrieval. Although Free Arrest Records are technically free-of-charge, an administrative fee is sometimes charged but the amount is usually nominal.

There is a multitude of practical applications of Free Arrest Records. They are used in very official and formal settings such as legal proceedings, police investigation and employment background check. Socially, they are also a favorite for checking out the background of neighbors, friends, relatives, nannies and tenants. One thing to note when using Free Arrest Records is that there are out-of-bound markers, violation of which is a legal offense.

With computerization and the advent of the internet, retrieving Free Arrest Records online from public offices is essentially a breeze these days. If the formality and waiting time with government departments are still too bothersome, there's the paid version from commercial record providers to turn to. If it's done online, the searched records are usually ready for download in a matter of minutes. They're not free but the reputable ones are good value for money, so, why not?

Choosing Fighting, Fishing and Captain's Boat Seats

Boat seats can be known by a variety of alternate names. Regarding single-person, swivel action sitting for fishing from a boat, or for navigation from the cockpit, these are usually known as fighting or fishing chairs, or as captain's boat seats.

Captain's Chairs, also known as helm's seats, are most commonly designed to be used on a center console or on a flybridge. There are many types of captain's chairs, and quality as well as price can vary wildly. Most luxurious captain's chairs usually have advanced characteristics such as UV stabilized polyethylene construction, cushions which are extra thick and comfortable, padded armrests on aluminum mounting brackets, and high quality pedestals and foot-rests.

Usually the pedestal has a sliding mechanism, allowing changing the height of the seating to the size of the captain. Also, the seats often have leather covers and brass details, and in some cased there may be the provision to add instrumentation into the armrests as well as a personal stereo system in the headrest.

Further down the price ladder, captain chairs include lower quality, but still acceptable seats and cushions, and the base pedestal is still adjustable in most cases, but the materials tend to be more common and there are no provisions for the inclusion of electronics.

Budget captain chairs usually have fewer metal parts, snap-on cushions, a fixed pedestal and no footrests, and are thinner in construction. They are still adequate on most pleasure boats, although they ten to be uncomfortable for longer trips.

Fishing chairs on the other hand are a kind of chair specifically designed for fishing rod use, allowing the sportsman using them to be rested and well supported while trying to pull aboard a fish that got caught. They are usually more accessorized than Captain's chairs, and trade in some confront for stability.

Usually, fishing chairs also swivel around a rod mounted on a central pedestal, but due to the position of these chairs on the back of the boat, they tend to be removable with the help of a quick release mechanism. These swivels are a relatively fragile part of the seat - when buying a fishing chair, make sure that the swivel is self-lubricating and made of non-corrosive metal.

Some fishing boat seats are designed for mere comfort, but others are specially designed for deep-sea fishing seating, and for catching big and combative fish such as tuna or swordfish. These are sometimes known as fighting seats, and are characterized by increased sturdiness as well as by a big footrest plate that the fisherman can use to support himself while tiring out big fish.

Desk Chair Parts

Desk chair parts play a vital role in the comfort-level and usability of the chair. These come under technical specifications of a desk chair. Some examples of these are pipes, metal and plastic joints, pipe rests, rotating cross- joints and rubber end caps. Some chairs are designed with old and physically disabled people in mind. For such people, various additional parts can be installed.

A caster is an important part of a chair. It is a tiny wheel on a swivel, attached under a portion of the furniture, to make it effortless to move. It comes in sizes of 50 mm, 65 mm and 75 mm. The wheel diameter has a major influence on the performance of a caster. Various types of casters are available in market such as chair and furniture casters, total locking casters, stainless casters and nickel-plated casters. Pneumatic and stem mount casters and plate mount casters are also available.

The plastic parts of a chair are the seat covers, back covers, armrests, bases, and telescope gas covers. Metal parts comprise of mechanisms, gas lifts, brackets, fittings and hinges. There are various ANSI or American National Standards Institute standards for bases and casters. These casters are used for hard flooring and mats. They are intended for repeated movement on an executive or office chair.

An elastic rubber wheel cares for tough floor surfaces such as hardwood, ceramic tiles and synthetic mats. Precision sealed ball bearing in a wheel offers easy rolling and not at all need repairs. A special mechanism on a wheel improves the ability to swivel or adjust direction. A grip ring socket is used for mounting casters on wood furniture. The choice of suitable desk chair parts and repair parts is not easy. There are loads of choices available in sizes, colors and shapes.

How to Choose a Mobility Scooter

Introduction

For many people with limited mobility a powered scooter is a good alternative to a wheelchair. Many people prefer a scooter to a wheel chair as they are more attractive visually, are lighter, more compact and have better maneuverability. We will look at mobility scooter features, their value as mobility aids and other information to consider when choosing a mobility scooter.

Construction

An electric mobility scooter is composed of a wheeled platform containing the drive unit and batteries, with controls and hand rests towards the front and a seat at the rear. For rugged terrains and hills a rear wheel drive unit would be preferred as they have better traction than a front wheel drive model. The platform or drive unit is usually made from steel, aluminium or fiberglass or sometimes a composite is used. There may be a cover over the drive head and dashboard instruments. When considering the scooter to purchase the size, ground clearance and turning radius should all be considered as these relate directly to the maneuverability.

Comfort and Safety

To ensure the needs of the rider are met the base unit dimensions and construction should be carefully considered. The feet must be comfortably accommodated and the controls easy to use and comfortably within reach. This is vitally important for a very tall or short riders. Many scooters have adjustable seats and arm rests and some have various base dimensions or extra footrests for longer legs or for those who wear leg braces.

Safety Features

Stability of the base unit on inclines and sharp turns is important. Many scooters have anti-tip mechanisms on the wheels for stability during maneuvers of these kinds so we advise you to check that the scooter your are considering has these mechanisms.

Drive Train

Front Wheel Drive Models

Manufactured primarily for indoor use, front-wheel drive units are less powerful than rear wheel drive models but usually smaller and more maneuverable. They are only recommended for smooth floors or pavements and may have difficulty coping with curbs. Because they are smaller than rear wheel drive units they are more easily transported and more likely to fit into a wheelchair lift.

Rear Wheel Drive Models

With more powerful motors and longer range, rear wheel scooters are much better in rougher terrain or uneven pavements. They are larger than front wheel drive models and less maneuverable. More suited to outdoor use they have higher speeds but are less easily transported and less likely to fit into wheelchair lifts.

Brakes

Rear wheel drive models have an electronic braking system that is engaged when pressure is released from the controls. The brakes therefore will always be engaged when the unit is not being driven forwards or in reverse. In order to be able to move the scooter manually a brake release lever is provided. Many scooters have disc brakes in combination with, or instead of, the electronic system.

In contrast front wheel drive models do not usually have an electronic system but have a parking brake that is manually applied to the rear wheel.

Batteries

The electric power system is either 12 or 24 volts supplied by one or two batteries. Rear wheel drive systems are generally 24 volts while the front wheel systems 12 volts. Add on units may be available to increase the range, but not the speed, of the scooter. The batteries are not interchangeable with auto batteries as their job is for sustained provision of power rather than a short starting burst as required by an auto battery. Their lifetime is between twelve and eighteen months and they are designed for regular charge and discharge. Batteries may be of the lead acid type or the gel cell type and are usually purchased as an extra. Battery chargers, whether integral or separate units are usually included in the purchase price. Ensure that the correct type of battery is purchased as chargers may be specific to the type of battery (lead acid or gel) although some chargers are dual purpose. Both independent and integral chargers have their advantages and disadvantages. An integral charger is convenient but if it goes wrong the whole scooter must be returned for repair. An independent charger is bulkier to move around but more easily replaced if needed.

Wheels and Tires

maneuverability of the scooter depends to a large extent on the wheel and tire size. Small tires on front-wheel drive models increase maneuverability but decrease traction so rear wheel drive scooters generally have bigger tires for better grip on uneven terrain. Pneumatic tires, foam filled tires and solid tires are available. Pneumatic tires, as on most autos, are better for comfort but need maintenance and replacing when worn. Foam filled tires cannot be deflated and are almost maintenance free. However they are less comfortable to ride and more expensive. Solid tires are only suitable for indoor use, are maintenance free but considerably less comfortable.

Seating

The seating should be considered carefully when choosing a mobility scooter. Arm and head rests may be included and seat padding will play a big factor in comfort especially when the scooter is ridden for a long time. Fabric covering is much more comfortable than vinyl but more expensive and harder to clean. Powered seats are a big help in mounting and dismounting but add to the cost. Powered seats may also allow elevation but again this feature will increase both the initial cost and the drain on the batteries. Seats that can be adjusted will be necessary if the rider is taller or shorter than average. Check to see if armrests can be flipped up for mounting.

Controls

Thumb levers are the most common types of controls but joysticks and loop handles are also used. A joystick attached to the armrest may be more suitable for someone with limited thumb mobility or strength.

Accessories

Other accessories that may be important to an individuals needs include oxygen transporters, crutch holders and front or rear baskets. Horns, lights and canopies are also optional in many cases.

Conclusion

Matching the needs of the rider with the features offered by the manufacturer is the most important consideration. Where will the scooter be used? Is the scooter the right dimensions and can it be adjusted for the size of the rider? Will thumb levers or a joystick be more suitable? Consideration to these questions will ensure that the mobility scooter chosen is the best one for the individual rider.

Sheepskin Car Covers - What Are the Cheapest Seat Car Covers

So you are looking for some Sheepskin Seat Covers for your new or used vehicle. You already know that using seat covers will do many positive things for your specific vehicle. Here is a list of just a few positive things you can count on. Seat sheepskin covers will do the following for your vehicle.

  • Lengthens the life of your seats

  • Helps your vehicle keep its value when its comes time to sell or trade in.

  • Gives you piece of mind when it comes to something getting spilled on your seats.

When you start looking at Sheepskin leather for your new seat covers, you will most likely run into some terms that will more than likely confuse you more than anything. Here are some of these terms and what they mean. Remember these definitions are used a little different depending on the dealer, but overall these will be correct.

1. Ready Made - These covers are pre made covers that will fit a lot of makes and models of cars. These do not need to be mixed up with the covers sold in the department stores. Ready made sheepskin covers sold through most dealers are actually made to fit the way they are supposed to.

2. Tailor Made - Tailor Made seat covers are especially made to the exact dimensions of your vehicle. Vehicles that have seat belts made into the seats will have to have tailor made seat covers. Many cars have seats that have odd dimensions and shapes that no ready or pre made covers will fit. SO they have to be tailor made.

3. Double Cap - Double cap sheepskin covers are all sheepskin. This means they have sheepskin on the front, bottom, sides as well as the back of the seats. These are the most expensive and the hardest to install because they do not stretch a whole lot.

4. All Sheepskin - These are the exact same thing as a Double Cap. Its just a more simple term and makes more sense to someone that doesn't know anything about sheepskin covers.

5. Super Fit - Super Fit covers basically have Sheepskin on the front & bottom of the seat where your butt and back rest. They usually have a stretchable acrylic material that has a matching fleece that normally matches the color of the sheepskin very closely on the sides and back of the seat. These are easier to install because of the stretchiness of the acrylic.

6. Deluxe Super Fit - These are super fit covers that are made with the best quality sheepskin offered. These covers are the most expensive ready made covers because of the quality of sheepskin used.

7. Mosaic - Mosaic usually means a pattern of different colors, but most of the time with Sheepskin it just means the seats are made in a pattern of small diamonds or squares. They are normally the same color. Mosaic is actually made up of a lot of small left over pieces instead of one big piece of sheepskin.

8. Mosaic Super fit - These are covers made in a mosaic pattern that has the acrylic on the sides and back of the seats. Mosaic covers are usually cheaper because the pieces used are made up of smaller pieces that can't be used on anything else.

9. Tailor Made Mosaic - These are tailor made covers that are made from the smaller pieces in a diamond or square pattern. Since these are tailor made they are usually all sheepskin or double cap. Sheepskin on front, bottom, back & sides. This is something one company may do differently than another so it is wise to ask if they are all sheepskin or super fit.

10. Standard - Standard usually has a shorter fleece than the other options available. The standard sheepskin is considered a lower quality because of the shorter fleece. My personal opinion is they are of the same quality its just that the fleece is shorter & many people actually prefer the shorter fleece.

Now that you know what these terms mean. It's time to put it all together so you can get the most for your money. Sheepskin is a very durable leather and the fleece has some amazing properties. Sheepskin is warm in the winter and is cool in the summer. What ever decision you make when picking out what kind of sheepskin covers to purchase for your vehicle will not be a bad one. Here is a list of things you need to do before ordering your Sheepskin Seat Covers from any dealer.

  • Decide what kind of density of sheepskin fleece you want. Remember Deluxe means best or thickest fleece. Mosaic is the same thickness but made up of smaller pieces. Standard has a shorter fleece than the others. Deluxe is most expensive - Standard is in the middle & Mosaic is usually the cheapest.

  • Decide if you want to have all sheepskin or super fit. Do you have to have sheepskin on the sides and back of the seats? It will save you a lot of money if you choose the super fit.

  • Find out if you need tailor made covers? Don't let any dealer fool you into getting tailor made covers. Make sure you ask why do you have to have tailor made? If you have integrated seat belts into your seats or built in armrest you will always have to have tailor made. If you have odd shaped seats or really thick seats then you may have to have them tailor made also.

In my opinion if you want the best price go with the Mosaic super fit. Even if they have to tailor make them it will still be affordable. On the plus side the mosaic has a pattern that usually looks really nice & remember the mosaic is made up of the best quality sheepskin. These are my personal favorite for quality and price (mosaics are actually just the left over pieces). If you would like a shorter fleece then definitely go with the standard super fit, If they can fit your vehicle with it.

Most of the time you can't get a bench seat done with the standard, but if it bucket seats then there shouldn't be a problem. Of course if price isn't a option then go with the all sheepskin seats. These are the best of the best. These are good for show cars where this may count towards more points for your show car. Some people just feel better knowing there sheepskin seats are all sheepskin, but I will not tell you they are my first choice. Because I'm cost conscious and like the most for my money.
